Geely's young brand launches entry-level SUV Lynk & Co 06
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On June 16, Lynk & Co, a Chinese-Swedish auto brand owned by Geely Auto Group, officially launched its all-new compact SUV—the Lynk & Co 06. As you have known that the digits in the name have no correlation with the vehicle's size, the 06 is the smallest one in Lynk & Co's SUV range.
Measuring 4,340mm long, 1,820mm wide and 1,625mm tall and having a wheelbase of 2,540mm, it is shorter than both the 01 (4,512mm) and the 02 (4,448mm), putting it in the league of entry-level SUV.
Positioned below the 01 and 02, the Lynk & 06 features a younger and sportier exterior styling. Retaining Lynk & Co's signature design language, the 06 adopts daytime running lights inspired by the “Aurora Borealis” and the split-type headlights, which are quite conspicuous. The black trim at the grill of the fuel-burning version draws on the design of the Lynk & Co 05.
The powerful and sporty nature of the 06's side profile is highlighted by the straight character lines, the floating roof and the dual-five-spoke rims. The two-tone design of the trim also adds volume to the vehicle's personality.
At the rear, the Y-shaped taillight cluster is seamlessly connected by a trim where a lettering “Lynk & Co” is centrally located. The rear bumper coupled with a silvery mudguard further elevates the sense of sports.
As usual, the 06 will be available with a range of customized options, such as the different sizes of rims, fog lamp, rear parking sensor, parking camera, ACC (adaptive cruise control), and panoramic sunroof.
In terms of powertrain, the Lynk & 06 will come in both fuel-burning and PHEV variants--the former will be launched first. Under the hood, the oil-fuel one is driven by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine that pumps out 130kW and 265 N·m, hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The powertrain of PHEV version reportedly consists of a 1.5T three-cylinder engine, a battery pack and an electric motor that is good for 60kW and 160 N·m (Lynk & Co 06, photo source: Lynk & Co).
