Startup Skywell joins string of mask-producing automakers
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Skywell, a young NEV brand launched in late 2019, has also joined a string of mask-producing automakers, which have already included such companies as SAIC-GM-Wuling, BYD and GAC Group.
With over RMB1 million to be invested, the disposal mask production lines were expected to be operational in early March, featuring a designed capacity of 300,000 to 500,000 units per day, the startup said in late Feb. via its WeChat account.
The outcome would be used to ensure employees' safety after Skywell, Sky-well New Energy Automobile Group (the brand’s parent company) and relevant suppliers and partners resume operation. Besides, some of masks would be donated to Xuzhou, a major city in Jiangsu Province, for the public good, and sold to local residents at a fair price, the EV maker stated then.
Skywell and its first strategic model simultaneously came into the public's view in last December. Featuring a tagline “Skywell: All is Well”, the brand is set to manufacture all-electric passenger vehicles.
Less than a week after the name laid bare to the public, the startup said it planned to roll out four all-new models based on two platforms—the “BE” platform targets affordable BEV models and the “CE” will be available to mid- & full-sized models in higher position—over the next five years.
Jiangsu Skywell Automobile Co.,Ltd, the operator behind the brand, was founded on November 1, 2019, and is wholly-owned by the aforementioned Sky-well New Energy Automobile Group, according to the company information search platform Tianyancha. Its business scope extends to cover the R&D, manufacture and sale of complete vehicles and auto parts, as well as the NEV-related technology development and transfer.
Tianyancha still shows that Huang Hongsheng, the founder of the leading global television brand Skyworth, serves as the legal representative of Jiangsu Skywell. In 2010, Mr. Huang set up Sky-well New Energy Automobile Group, which was granted the access of PV manufacturer by China's MIIT in 2017 and passed the inspection for the access of NEV manufacturer (photo source: Skywell).
