Stellantis-backed Leapmotor saw its 500,000th production vehicle roll off the assembly line, as its growth accelerated significantly this year.

Stellantis NV (NYSE: STLA) backed Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) saw its 500,000th production vehicle roll off the assembly line today, as its growth accelerated significantly this year.

Leapmotor announced the milestone on its social media accounts today, saying it was just over 100 days after it saw its 400,000th production vehicle roll off the line.

Since reaching production of its 400,000th vehicle in early July, Leapmotor has had record sales recently -- selling more than 30,000 units in both August and September, including more than 10,000 units in a single week in the last week of September, it said.

The 500,000th mass-produced vehicle is its new model C16, which went on sale in China in June and had more than 10,000 firm orders within the first month of availability, Leapmotor said.

Leapmotor launched the C16 on June 28, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, like its other C-series models.

The Leapmotor C16 EREV is offered in three options with a starting price of RMB 155,800 ($21,880), RMB 162,800 and RMB 179,800 respectively.

Its BEV variant is also available in three options with starting prices of RMB 161,800, RMB 168,800 and RMB 185,800 respectively.

Leapmotor delivered 33,767 vehicles in September, its fourth consecutive record-breaking month, according to figures it announced on October 1.

That's up 113.72 percent from 15,800 a year ago and up 11.42 percent from 30,305 in August.

In the January-September period, Leapmotor delivered 172,861 vehicles, an increase of 94.60 percent year-on-year.

By the end of September, the company's cumulative deliveries since inception stood at 478,685 vehicles, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Delivery of its 500,000th vehicle could still take some time, given factors including logistics.

Founded in 2015, Leapmotor is one of the first new car-making forces in China, which initially offered only BEVs but unveiled plans to build EREVs in 2022.

The company's current models sold in China include the T03, C01, C10, C11, and C16, with all but the T03 offered in both BEV and EREV variants.

Leapmotor is currently working with Stellantis to develop overseas markets, announcing late last month that the C10 and T03 were officially launched in 13 European countries.

On October 14, Leapmotor debuted the new B10 at the Paris auto show, a compact SUV (sport utility vehicle) that is the first global model on its new B platform.

The B10 will target the RMB 100,000 to RMB 150,000 price range in China and will go on sale globally next year.
