Tesla Model Y sales in China hits 48,202 in Sept, highest year to date

Model Y sales in China reached a new high for the year in September, as Tesla prioritized the Shanghai-built crossover for deliveries to local consumers.

The crossover's exports in September contributed 18.3 percent of Tesla China's exports.

From January to September, Tesla's Shanghai factory exported 68,197 Model Y units, a 50.11 percent year-on-year decrease, contributing to 31.64 percent of Tesla's China exports in the same period.

Model 3 retail sales in China in September were 23,998 units, the highest since September 2022, contributing 33.24 percent of Tesla's sales in China last month.

The electric sedan's sales in China rose 1,054.3 percent in September from 2,079 units in the same month last year and 32.4 percent from 18,126 units in August.

In the January-September period, Model 3 retail sales in China were 122,552 units, up 7.86 percent year-on-year, contributing to 26.63 percent of Tesla's retail sales in China.

Model 3 exported 13,171 units in September, down 29.74 percent year-on-year while up 7.41 percent from August, contributing 81.7 percent of Tesla China's September export volume.

From January to September, Model 3 exported 147,361 units, up 14.57 percent year-on-year, contributing 68.36 percent of Tesla China's export volume.

Including exports and local deliveries, China-made Model Y sales were 51,152 units in September, down 3.94 percent year-on-year and down 9.16 percent from August.

From January to September, China-made Model Y sold 405,845 units, down 11.16 percent year-on-year.

China-made Model 3 sold 37,169 units in September, up 78.49 percent year-on-year and 22.31 percent from August.

From January to September, China-made Model 3 sold 269,913 units, up 11.42 percent year-on-year.
