Xpeng to unveil P7+ electric sedan on Oct 10
Xpeng will unveil its new flagship electric sedan, the P7+, on October 10, with a live video stream beginning at 2:00 pm Beijing time (2:00 am US Eastern time).
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will unveil its new flagship electric sedan, the P7+, on October 10, the company announced today on its social media accounts.
A live video stream will begin at 2 pm Beijing time (2:00 am US Eastern time) on October 10, according to the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker.
Xpeng is trying to link the P7+ to AI (artificial intelligence), saying that the sedan will be a new species in the age of AI cars.
The P7+ is Xpeng's new model internally codenamed F57 which CnEVPost reported in a July 9 exclusive that it will not be using any LiDAR and that the intelligent driving system will be shifting to a vision-only solution similar to that of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA).
On September 19, Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng drove a lightly camouflaged P7+ to the Apsara Conference held by Alibaba, giving the model its real-life debut.
That was the debut of the Xpeng P7+, which is positioned as the world's first AI car, Xpeng said at the time.
The model entered a regulatory filing catalog with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) in July, which showed it measuring 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.
The dimensions are larger than those of the Xpeng P7i sedan, which measures 4,888 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,998 mm.
The EV maker is expected to debut the P7+ in overseas markets by showing it at the Paris auto show in France later this month.
Xpeng will showcase the company's latest technology and products for its AI cars to a global audience on October 14, it said on September 20 at Weibo.
Xpeng delivered 21,352 vehicles in September, up 39.46 percent year-on-year and up 52.12 percent from August, according to figures it announced on October 1.
Its new model Mona M03 delivered more than 10,000 units in its first full delivery month, the company said, without disclosing specific figures.
Xpeng officially launched the Mona M03 electric sedan on August 27, with a starting price of RMB 119,800 ($16,950), its cheapest and roughly half the price of a Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.
