A look under the bonnet reveals the electric motor. Open bonnets are rare on the Beijing show where staff normally gets completely hysterical if you ask to see an engine.

Output is 67hp and 210nm. Battery is lithium-ion. On the show JAC claimed a range of 200 kilometer. Top speed is 120 kilometers per hour. Size: 4310/1710/1500, wheelbase is 2490.

Price for the JAC  iEV5 will start around 200.000 yuan, but green-car subsidies will bring that down to about 130.000 at the dealer.

The JAC iEV5 will be positioned above the recently launched JAC iEV4. JAC is so far the only Chinese automaker that is offering two full-electric cars in its passenger car line-up. Even better known BYD only got one, and most of the others got exactly zero.
