On January 15, Haval’s new second-gen H9 SUV was found on the newest declaration catalog by the Chinese MIIT, available in gasoline-powered and diesel versions, and is expected to be launched in the first half of this year. For reference, the current H9 has a price tag of 215,000 yuan (~30,000 USD). The second-gen H9’s price range might be around that.

Gasoline-powered version dimensions

  • 4950 (5000)/1960 (1976)/1930 mm
  • 5070/1960 (1976)/1930 mm

Diesel version dimensions

  • 4950 (5000)/1976/1930 mm
  • 5070/1976/1930 mm

All models will have a 2850 mm wheelbase, expected to position as a medium-to-large SUV. In addition, the front and rear overhangs are relatively short, which can increase the approach and departure angles.

The new car has the characteristics of a typical hard-core off-road vehicle, with a square box shape, an external spare tire, longitudinal taillights, roof racks, and high-mounted brake lights.

Gasoline-powered version physical specs

Judging from the declaration image, the gasoline-powered version will be available in three models with three different front grille, rear, and roof designs, riding on 17/18/19-inch rims.

Diesel version physical specs

The diesel version will be offered in two models, riding on 18-inch rims. The front grille is embedded with the HAVAL letter logo, coupled with round headlights on both sides.

The second-gen H9 gasoline-powered four-wheel drive version will be equipped with a 2.0T engine that outputs 165 kW and 385 Nm, mated to an 8AT. The fuel consumption per 100 km will be around 10.2 to 10.7 L and the top speed will be 180 km/h. Furthermore, the second-gen H9 diesel version will be powered by a 2.4T engine that outputs 135 kW, mated to a 9AT. The torque spec was not revealed. The top speed will be 170 km/h.

Similar to the other Haval vehicles, the second-gen H9 will roll out a plug-in hybrid version powered by Great Wall Motor’s Hi4-T system.
