At the Chery Night held on the evening of April 7 in China, Chery TJ-1 officially made its debut. As a new compact SUV under the Chery brand, it is marketed as a “light off-road” vehicle and will be available in both ICE and PHEV versions, and four-wheel drive. The TJ-1 is expected to be officially launched between July and August this year. Currently, Chery is seeking the public to help give its TJ-1 an official name.

As a whole, the exterior of Chery TJ-1 looks tough with a square shape. Most noticeable is the large Chery logo embedded on the blackened front grille.

The ICE version will be equipped with a 1.6T engine and mated with a 7DCT. The PHEV version will be equipped with a 1.5T hybrid engine + DHT that outputs 115 kW and 220 Nm, has a WLTC comprehensive fuel consumption of only 1L/100km, a pure electric cruising range of more than 100 km, and a comprehensive cruising range of 1400 km under full fuel and full charge. It will also only take 18 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.

The Chery TJ-1 has a size of 4515/1865/1680mm and a 2675mm wheelbase. From the side, it adopts a suspended roof design, comes with pop-out door handles, and runs on blade-style five-spoke rims. The rear has through-type taillights and one exhaust on each side.

The interior will be available in black and white with minimum physical buttons, a rectangular instrument panel, a 14.8-inch floating central control screen, a head-up display, and a wireless charging pad on the center console. The round and rectangular air outlets on both sides are very eye-catching.

Compute will be supported by a Qualcomm 8155 chip and supports FOTA, facial recognition, and a level 2+ driving assistance system. Other configurations include suede seats, seat heating/ventilation/massage, and a SONY audio sound system.
