Cadillac GT4 Is A New Entry-level SUV For China
This is the Cadillac GT4, a new entry level Cadillac SUV for the Chinese market. Leaked patent images show a sporty car with a split headlight design and a racy bulge on the bonnet. The images show two variants: a base car with a matrix-type grille and a sportier car with a black grille.
Cadillac cars are manufactured in China by the SAIC-GM joint venture. Currently, Cadillac makes seven cars in China: the Lyriq EV, the CT4, CT5, and CT6 sedans, and the XT4, XT5, and XT6 SUVs.
The new Cadillac GT4 will be produced by SAIC-GM as well. It will be positioned below the XT4. The Cadillac XT4 is powered by a 237hp 2.0 turbo and sells for 261.700 to 354.700 yuan (39.237-53.180 USD), so price wise there is enough space in the lineup for an entry-level SUV.
The rear with a spoiler above the window, T-shaped lights, and rectangle exhaust pipes.
The GT4 is code named E2Ql, it is based on GM’s E2 vehicle platform. It will be available with two engines: a 1.5 turbo and a 2.0 turbo. The 1.5 turbo is front-wheel drive, the 2.0 turbo is four-wheel drive. No word yet on PHEV or EV versions.
The GT4 badge is visible on the D-pillar.
This is the sportier car, with a black grille and different alloy wheels.
Quad exhaust pipes, but that’s only visual really. They use exactly the same space as the rectangle pipes, so it’s just a different kind of pipe tips.
Price of the Cadillac GT4 is expected to start around 225.000 yuan (33.730 USD). The GT4 will be unveiled in Q3 and launch on the Chinese auto market in late Q4. The GT4 will compete with cars like the Beijing-Benz Mercedes GLA, the FAW-Volkswagen Audi Q2, the Brilliance-BMW X2, and the Volvo XC40.
