The brand new GAC Toyota Venza has arrived at dealers throughout China. Positioned as a family-style luxury mid-size SUV based on the TNGA platform, the Venza comes in 6 luxury versions, with a price range of 216,800-303,800 RMB (34,000-47,000 USD).

The size of the new Venza is 4780/1855/1660mm, with a wheelbase of 2690mm.

The “X” shape front face and the large grille emphasize the car’s luxuriousness and stability. The sharp headlights and double L-shaped light strip further enhance the car’s width.

The Venza comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense system that includes a Pre-Collision System with daytime/low-light vehicle, pedestrian, and bicyclist detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane tracing assist, and road sign assist.

A large interior area adopts metal chrome plating and extra-long stitching, making it more fashionable and elegant. The front leather seats are equipped with ventilation and heating functions. The interior is fitted with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, 12.3-inch multi-information display, and 10-inch heads-up display to access functions including navigation, music, voice recognition, face recognition, home appliance connection, Bluetooth, and remote control.

The Venza also comes with digital rear-view mirrors, smartphone wireless charging, the latest Nanoe X Air Purification System manufactured by Panasonic, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Left: frosted mode. Right: transparent mode.

In addition, the Venza is equipped with Toyota’s first Star Gaze fixed panoramic glass roof. The roof allows drivers to switch from transparent to frosted models within seconds. Both modes can block more than 99% of ultraviolet rays.

Power

The Venza comes in two powertrain options: 2.0L and 2.5L HEV powertrains. Both versions are available in two-wheel and four-wheel drives.

The 2.0L fuel version adopts a 2.0L Dynamic Force Engine with a thermal efficiency of 40%, maximum power of 171 horsepower, and peak torque of 207Nm, matched with a simulated 10-speed Direct Shift-CVT gearbox. Simulated means that the CVT doesn’t have gears or speeds, but its software has been programmed to behave like a virtual 10-speed gearbox. The fuel consumption per 100km is as low as 5.9L. The 2.0L four-wheel-drive version is equipped with the DTC intelligent four-wheel-drive system.

The 2.5L hybrid version adopts Toyota’s fourth-generation Hybrid System II for a 2.5L Dynamic Force Engine with a thermal efficiency of 41% and a maximum power of 178 horsepower, matched to an E-CVT transmission. The fuel consumption per 100km is as low as 4.5L with more than 1000km cruising range. The 2.5L four-wheel-drive version is equipped with the E-FOUR electronic four-wheel-drive system.
