It is worth noting that, from the teaser released, MONA is not a completely new brand, nor does it adopt a new logo; rather, it is a new series under the XPENG X logo. The new car is set to target the market segment priced between 100,000 yuan to 150,000 yuan and will feature XPENG's intelligent driving technologies.
MONA stands for "Made Of New AI". The M03 is not only a cost-effective product aimed at consumers but will also be sold to ride-hailing fleets. The official images show that the new car closely resembles the previously released renderings, giving it a youthful, high-tech look with a distinctive design.
The front of the new car features a T-shaped headlight design and a closed grille, with the XPENG X logo in the center. The side profile of the car is simple, with a waistline running through the door handles and additional lines sketched at the bottom.
The new car also includes hidden door handles, and a blue intelligent driving indicator light is present on the front fender. An innovative small spoiler is located in the D-pillar area on the side, though its function has not yet been revealed. Notably, the car's roof does not currently have LiDAR, indicating it may adopt a pure-vision system in the future. From the previously released rear teaser images, the rear of the new car resembles the front, also featuring a T-shaped light design.
Based on previous information, this M03 may be called "想往" in Chinese (Chinese pinyin: Xiangwang). It is expected to come with multiple color schemes, including blue, beige-blue, and beige-pink.
The first car in the MONA series is jointly developed by DiDi and XPENG, with DiDi's team responsible for design, part of the R&D, and sales. After XPENG took over, it handled the R&D, supply chain, production, and sales to consumers. According to insiders, the battery supplier for the first MONA car includes BYD, and the car will have a range of over 500km.
