Lynk & Co 03+ Cyan Is A Race Car Inspired Sporty Sedan
In China, Lynk & Co is leaving the hipsters to their beards in favor of real men with petrol in their veins. The brand is all about racing now, fast cars and speed! Earlier on we met the near-outrageous Lynk & Co 05+, and now the Chinese make the world more pretty with this machine: the mad Lynk & Co 03+ Cyan.
The 03+ Cyan is inspired by the Lynk & Co 03 TCR race cars that compete in the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR). The cars are build and run by Swedish outfit Cyan Racing, which has a long experience racing Volvo’s. In 2005 it was renamed Polestar Racing. When Polestar became a standalone brand under Volvo the old Cyan name returned. Nowadays, Cyan Racing is part of Volvo as well. Cyan driver Yann Ehrlacher currently leads the 2021 championship.
The Lynk & Co lineup can be slightly confusing, with all those wuzzy names. Lynk & Co knows that too and helped us out with an illustrative image. From left to right: 03, 03+, 03+ Cyan, and the 03 TCR.
The Lynk & Co 03+Cyan is sporty so it has stickers. Stickers equal speed. The stickers are huge and they say CYAN. The body is painted in Volvo-blue with a black roof and yellow mirrors, brake calipers, and roof striping. The alloys, door handles, and rear wing are black too. The wing is serious, creating a maximum downforce of 163 kilo. The calipers are sourced from Japanese brake maker Akebono. It has a black ‘+’ on the D-pillar.
The inside has Cyan branded alcantara sport seats and lots of yellow detailing.
The Lynk & Co 03+ Cyan is powered by the same motor as the Lynk & Co 05+: a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder with 265 hp and 380 Nm. The engine is derived from a Volvo unit but manufactured locally at Zhejiang Geely Powertrain. Transmission is an Aisin 8-speed automated manual, sending horses to all four wheels. Speedy it is, with a 0-100 in 5.7 seconds and a 235 km/h top speed.
Side skirts, a faux diffuser and four exhaust pipes complete the speed.
Price for the 03+ Cyan starts at 236.800 yuan and ends at 256.800 yuan ($36.680 – 39.830), and that is serious money for a tricked-up sedan. But it is one of the quickest purely petrol powered sedans on the Chinese car market today. If you need more power, get an EV, which, oddly, Lynk & Co won’t sell you because they don’t have any on offer. Lynk & Co is about old-school petrol power and we are glad they still hold out. Vrooooom!
