BYD’s fire new mid-sized SUV Sea Lion 07 EV goes on sale, starting at 189,800 yuan
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On May 10th, BYD officially put its new all-electric mid-sized SUV, the Sea Lion 07 EV, onto the market. It comes with four variants priced between 189,800 yuan and 239,800 yuan.
Echoing the Ocean aesthetics, the Sea Lion 07 EV is constructed on the innovative e-platform 3.0 Evo and boasts an array of cutting-edge technologies that significantly enhance its overall performance. The vehicle, already in production at BYD's Changzhou factory, is expected to be delivered later this month.
The Sea Lion 07 EV marks the debut model under BYD's new "Sea Lion" range identity within its Ocean series framework. This strategy intends to categorize SUVs under the Sea Lion range and sedans under the "Seal" range.

In design terms, the Sea Lion 07 EV draws inspiration from the Ocean X concept car, reinforcing the unified design theme of the marine series. Its modern design features an exaggerated contour line on the hood that accentuates the vehicle's front view.
The SUV is equipped with distinctive dual U-shaped floating front headlights that resemble the letter 'C', and includes lighting daytime running that lights up sequentially, adding a ceremonial touch. The headlights are ultra-slim, enhancing the technological feel.
The new vehicle features a trapezoidal front grille design, with a rectangular center section housing the forward-facing millimeter-wave radar. The black trim around the edges forms an 'X' shape. Vents on either side of the lower bumper are designed to optimize airflow at the front of the vehicle.
Mounted on the front windshield is an 8-megapixel stereo camera, capable of detecting objects up to 200 meters ahead and providing a 120-degree field of view from the front of the car.

Performance-wise, the Sea Lion 07 EV is outfitted with advanced intelligent driving system known as "God's Eye," which includes Level 2 advanced driver-assistance features capable of adapting to human driving patterns. It supports functions such as lane keeping, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed control, and more.

The model comes standard with an integrated Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system that is compatible with WeChat and major bank cards, avoiding the need for aftermarket installations and the problems associated with aging batteries in aftermarket ETC systems.
Aesthetically, the Sea Lion 07 EV showcases a two-tone body with dual waistline designs and pronounced shoulder lines over the rear wheel arches, giving the vehicle a robust appearance. It also features heat-insulating and sound-proofing glass at the front and heat-insulating privacy glass at the rear.

Dimensionally, the Sea Lion 07 EV is longer, wider, and has a longer wheelbase compared to Tesla's Model Y and XPENG's G6, but it is shorter in height, contributing to a more streamlined side profile.
The vehicle offers 19-inch or 20-inch wheels depending on the variant, with the top-spec two-wheel-drive version equipped with 19-inch low-resistance wheels paired with Giti Tire's quiet and economy city tires.

The taillights, which share a design with the Seal and Dolphin models, feature a thin-in-middle, thick-in-ends light strip that visually broadens the rear.
The rear of the vehicle includes a large spoiler and a faux diffuser in black, adding to the sporty ambiance.
The e-platform 3.0 Evo, where the Sea Lion 07 EV rides on, integrates five major technology clusters, including the CTB (cell-to-body), the 12-in-1 electric motor, the broad-temperature-range heat pump, the all-domain smart fast charging, and the intelligent motion control technology.
