GAC AION announces foray into Indonesian market

Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC AION, the new energy vehicle subsidiary of GAC Group, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Indonesia's INDOMOBIL Group on April 2, marking its official entry into Southeast Asia's largest automobile market.

GAC AION said this collaboration not only reinforces GAC AION's strategic layout of "Thailand + Indonesia" dual-factory strategy, but also brings more new energy vehicle options to users of the Southeast Asian market.

Indonesia, as the most populous country and the largest automobile market in Southeast Asia, boasts abundant nickel ore resources, providing many favorable policies and resources for the automotive industry. As a large conglomerate with business covering various fields from vehicle manufacturing to automotive finance, INDOMOBIL Group, whose parent company is Salim Group, one of the top three consortiums in Indonesia, will provide strong support for GAC AION's development in the country.

According to the the plan, GAC AION will engage in comprehensive strategic cooperation with INDOMOBIL Group in areas such as vehicle manufacturing, automotive sales and services, finance, energy ecosystem, mobility markets, and upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, to offer Indonesian consumers more high-quality, reliable, and technologically advanced new energy vehicle products.

GAC AION's globalization strategy is rapidly unfolding, with significant headway achieved in Southeast Asian markets including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Notably, the establishment of its inaugural overseas manufacturing hub in Thailand underscores its commitment to regional expansion.

Looking ahead, GAC AION is poised to accelerate its global business expansion, establishing production and distribution hubs across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and beyond.
