The new Haval HB-03 Hybrid concept car launched on the Shanghai Auto Show, with razor sharp headlights and shiny five spoke wheels. The HB-03 Hybrid previews a sporty SUV-coupe that will launch on the Chinese auto market in 2018.

The HB-03 Hybrid is basically the same car as the WEY Pi4 VV7x.

WEY is the “premium” brand and Haval will get its own slightly cheaper version of every WEY car, besides the trillion of other cars Haval already offers. That is very odd indeed but this is Great Wall and they live by launching new cars and more new cars and more new cars more. They are addicted.

The HB-03 Hybrid looks much better than the Pi4 VV7x although they share the same body. The wider tires, cleaner bumper, and wider rear lights make the difference. Sadly however it doesn’t have the ultra cool painted tail pipes of the Pi4 VV7x.

A very nice interior with a wild orange color scheme and some fake-carbon fiber panels. Digital instrument panel and a 10 inch touch screen. Gear knob in the typical hammer-shape like in every new Haval.

As the name of the vehicle implies the HB-03 Hybrid is a hybrid, but Haval did not disclose any information about the power train. The production car likely gets petrol and hybrid power trains, and we guesstimate the former will be a 2.0 turbo and the latter based around the 2.0 turbo. This engine powers basically every new high-end Haval and the entire WEY range. Output ranges from 200 to 230hp, depending on configuration.

Grille looks great. Blue badge so this will be a Blue Label car. Naturally they will launch a Red Label version as well.
