And here we have the Volkswagen Cross Touran L, a crossy variant of the Touran L MPV, scheduled for debut on next week’s Shanghai Auto Show. It has all the usual cross-things; bumper with mud guard, black wheel arches, a black stripe over the doors, dark window pillars, and, at least on this car, great looking dark gray alloys.

The China-spec Tiguan L, manufactured by Shanghai-Volkswagen. It is called L to differentiate it from the old Tiguan which is still in production, but it isn’t any longer than the European version.

Price ranges from 155.800 yuan to 230.800 yuan. Power comes from a 150hp 1.4 turbo or a 180hp 1.8 turbo. The Cross Touran L will be available with both of these engines.

A completely different bumper, with another mud guard and visible pipe tips.

There is a reflective strip on each side of the rear door, looking very odd. In the standard L these reflectors are made out of plastic and housed in the bumper:

Standard L. Reflectors are in the bumper and the exhaust pipe is invisible.

The mud guard of the Cross L is too big to allow for the reflectors to fit into the bumpers, so Volkswagen moved them up. Not a very pretty solution but I guess that is the price for being cross.
