Shanghai (ZXZC)- On February 21, NETA Auto' CEO, Zhang Yong, took to his Weibo account to announce that the upcoming NETA-branded model code-named EP41 will officially be named "NETA SS".

This revelation follows Zhang Yong's earlier statement in January 2024, hinting that the EP41 could be considered a sportier version of the NETA S sedan. The vehicle is scheduled to make its debut around the Auto China 2024 in Beijing, with deliveries expected by mid-year. Emphasizing the significance of this model, Zhang Yong highlighted that the NETA SS represents the first car built on the upgraded 2.0 version of the Shanhai platform, featuring substantial enhancements in both hardware and software.

From official images released, the NETA SS exhibits a rugged-looking SUV design, characterized by an elongated front end and split-headlamp design, reminiscent of the NETA S. The upper section houses LED daytime running lights, while the lower part seamlessly integrates the high and low beam lights into a unified unit within the front bumper. Additionally, the vehicle's roof is equipped with LiDAR system, showcasing NETA Auto's commitment to advanced technology.

Moreover, leaked spy photos suggest that the sporty design not only enhances the overall aesthetics but also expands the utility of rear cabin space. In terms of the chassis, the NETA SS is expected to feature air suspension, promising an improved driving experience.

As of now, specific details about the NETA SS remain undisclosed. However, there are speculations that the model might offer plug-in hybrid electric and all-electric powertrain options. The full-electric variant could potentially incorporate CATL’s Shenxing L Series battery, touted as the world's first lithium iron phosphate 4C ultra-fast charging battery, promising an enhanced driving range.

Earlier at the 2024 NETA Auto Value Chain Conference, the collaboration between NETA Auto and Hesai Technology was cemented, featuring the integration of the 128-beam ultra-high-definition  AT128 LiDAR into NETA Auto’s new vehicle models. This advancement aims to create the NETA PILOT, an advanced intelligent driving system set to cover a wide range of driving scenarios, expected for debut this year.
