GAC Group’s Oct. sales fall 13.2% year on year

Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group announced a 13.22% year-on-year decline in October auto sales, posting downturn for four consecutive months. The automaker sold 1,680,708 vehicles in total in the first ten months of 2019, down 4.35% over a year earlier.

The group saw its year-to-date PV sales fall 4.04% to 1,678,347 units. Of that, SUV sales were 681,586 units, tumbling 23.16% over the year-ago period. Meanwhile, car and MPV sales reached 913,222 units and 83,539 units, jumping 14.53% and 29.14% respectively.

GAC Honda was crowned in-house sales champion within the group with 65,392 units sold in the Oct. and 638,788 units sold so far this year. To be specific, Jan.-Oct. sales volume of the Accord rose 36% to 185,186 units, and 128,204 units of the Crider were sold, surging 64% year on year.

GAC Toyota recorded a monthly growth of 8.09% with 60,000 new vehicles sold, and the year-to-date sales totaled 556,224 units as of Oct., soaring 16.52% over the year-ago period. The two main contributors were the Camry and the Levin, with 150,741 units and 180,502 units sold after ten months of the year, up by 10% and 14% respectively.

However, GAC Mitsubishi witnessed a year-to-date sales decrease of 9.04% to 107,446 units and GAC FCA’s sales slumped 45.75% to 57,804 units from the year-ago period. 

GAC Motor suffered its fourth-month-in-a-row decrease. The monthly sales fell 36.13% to 29,487 units. For the first ten months of 2019, the group’s self-owned PV arm got its sales plunge of 30.42% to 306,685 units.
