Shanghai (ZXZC)- In October, China's automakers sold a total of 1,928,673 locally-produced PVs (referring to cars, MPVs, SUVs and minibuses), failing to achieve year-on-year increase during the period which is conventionally regarded as a peak season for car sale, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Year-to-date PV wholesales volume totaled 17,199,056 units, dropping 10.8% over the prior-year period.

As for the performance of terminal market, 1,868,276 consumers took delivery of China-made PVs last month, falling 6% from the year-ago period, while growing 3.4% over the previous month.

China's Vehicle Inventory Alert Index (VIA), which reflects the inventory pressure of automobile dealers, stood at 62.4% last month, which dropped 4.5 percentage points over the year-ago period, while rose by 3.8 percentage points from a month ago. The VIA had been exceeding an official warning threshold for 22 consecutive months as of October.

There were six car models on the top 10 PV model list by Oct. wholesale volume, two models less than that of September. Aside from the frequenter Haval H6, the Changan CS75 and the Tayon SUVs were new entrants to the top 10 PV list. Besides, the Hongguang was still the only MPV model, dropping one place to the seventh compared with September.

In October, the wholesale volume of China-built cars fell 11.2% over a year ago to 892,448 units, which made the year-to-date sales total 8,293,321 units (-12%), according to the CPCA.

The Sylphy was crowned the hottest-selling car model with a double-digit sales growth of 11.8%, for the second time taking the honor so far this year. Its overall sales were boosted thanks to the coming of the all-new Sylphy in July. However, the classic one still outsold the all-new product due to the former's lower prices and greater discounts.

The Accord and the Excelle failed to enter the top 10 car model list, while the Passat and the Geely Emgrand successfully appeared there, which were ranked seventh and tenth respectively.

With a splendid growth of 134.6%, the Bora maintained its fourth place from September. Driven by the all-new generation, the Corolla moved up two places to the second runner-up with its Oct. sales surging 41.2% year on year.

After ten months through October, China's automakers had sold 7,517,064 homegrown SUVs in total, a year-over-year decline of 7.6%. Of that, 882,664 units were sold in October, edging up 0.9%.

The hottest-selling SUV model, the Haval H6, posted a contracted decrease of 1.2% with its Oct. sales exceeding 40,000 units.

Among the top 10 SUV models by the Oct. wholesale volume, there were six models gained year-on-year increase, of which four models got double-digit growth.

The Changan CS75 was promoted to the runner-up place with a remarkable increase of 68% as the CS75 PLUS hit the market in September. The Tayron boasted a marvelous growth of 553.5% partly due to its small base for year-ago period.

The Honda CR-V, featuring a double-digit growth as well, outperformed the X-TRAIL with its merit in hybrid models.
