BorgWarner gets right to produce LFP battery pack using FinDream Battery’s Blade cells
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On February 18th, BorgWarner announced a strategic cooperation agreement with FinDream Battery, a subsidiary under BYD.
According to this agreement, BorgWarner is set to stand as the exclusive non-automotive manufacturer and independent localized producer without any affiliations with FinDream Battery. This unique position grants BorgWarner the rights to locally manufacture LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery packs for commercial vehicles in Europe, the Americas, and parts of the Asia-Pacific region, utilizing FinDream's Blade cell technology. The validity of this agreement spans an 8-year period.

Expanding beyond the geographical scope covered by the agreement, BorgWarner is not only gaining access to the cutting-edge Blade cell technology for manufacturing LFP battery packs, but also securing authorization from FinDream Battery to use the latter's intellectual property related to battery pack design and manufacturing processes.
Frédéric Lissalde, President and CEO of BorgWarner, expressed enthusiasm about the exciting potential of LFP battery chemistry. He emphasized the increasing global importance of LFP due to its cost competitiveness and growing demand for LFP battery packs. Lissalde believes that FinDream Battery, with over 20 years of successful LFP battery R&D experience in the Chinese and European mobility sectors, is the right collaborative choice for BorgWarner. The partnership aims to jointly develop advanced cell and battery pack technology, further propelling electrification in this niche market segment.
