New Spy Shots of the Baojun 310 for China
New Spy Shots of the upcoming Wuling Baojun 310, looking good in red although the wheels could be a bit bigger. The Baojun 310 is the hatchback variant of the Baojun 330 sedan. It will debut next week on the Beijing Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market in May.
The Baojun 310 is based on the Chevrolet Sail hatchback, which is manufactured in China by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. Power comes from a 113hp 1.5 or from a 87hp 1.2, both mated to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Price starts at 56.800 yuan and ends at 74.900 yuan.
Baojun is an entry level brand under the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, in which GM has a 43% stake. The other partners are SAIC (aka Shanghai Auto) and Wuling Automotive.
SAIC and GM are also tied up in the giant Shanghai-GM joint venture that makes Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac cars for the Chinese market.
‘Baojun’ means ‘Treasure Horse’ and the logo depicts a horse head.
he Baojun 310 will get exactly the same engines as the Sail, with the 1.5 claimed to deliver 109hp. Lone transmission will be the five-speed manual. No automatic for Baojun. Price will start just under 50.000 yuan and end around 65.000. Size: 4032/1682/1470, wheelbase is 2550.
A leaked image of the interior. Looks good with some wood, but the steering wheel seems old. The touch screen is huge but you will get it only in the top-spec variants. The cheapo’s get this:
And no wood. And no buttons on old wheel. Still has the placeholders for the buttons, which looks really cheap. Not good.
Roof rails appear to the usable.
A leaked image of the side, looking very busy with a lot of lines all over and a huge front overhang. Kinda 1995 Kia stuff, not bad, but not really interesting either.
Taillights are giants. No chrome at the back.
Lines on the move. See you in Beijing.
