Shanghai (ZXZC)- Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. (JMC) reported an 18.92% year-on-year increase in September auto sales of 26,002 units. In the first nine months of 2019, the automaker sold 197,430 vehicles in total, up by 0.11% over a year earlier.

The Ford-branded SUV’s September sales skyrocketed 674.24% year on year to 4,808 units. Its first three quarters’ sales totaled 37,624 units, growing more than sevenfold.

Besides, September sales of the Ford-branded CV reached 3,725 units, up by 3.79%. However, the year-to-date sales still fell by 16.5% from the year-ago period.

Apart from the Ford SUV, JMC saw other brands’ sales in the first three quarters slide year on year to varying degree. Among them, the Yusheng SUV’s sales only reached 1,073 units, a nosedive of 82.53% over the prior-year period. In addition, Jan.-Sept. sales of JMC’s trucks amounted to 66,834 units, edging down 8.53% year on year. The pickup sales hit 40,391 units in the period, down more than 20% year on year.

The sales growth means that JMC has scored certain achievements under the guidance of its strategy in the second half of 2019. In the 2019 Q2 financial report, the company said it would strengthen the LCV development and maintain its SUV advantage in the second half. Meanwhile, it would pay attention to new products’ design and development to improve the quality and lower the cost, launching more competitive vehicles into the market as soon as possible.
