Geely’s Farizon Auto teams up with multiple entities on development of new energy industry
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On January 8, 2024, Geely's Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group ("Farizon Auto") joined hands with prominent entities including the China Overseas Development Association, the China Petroleum Circulation Association, the China Energy Research Society's Committee on Energy Supply and Green Consumption, International Financial News (FNEWS.com), China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, Great United Petroleum Holdings Co. Ltd., etc., to ink a comprehensive "Strategic Cooperation Agreement for Joint Development of the New Energy Industry."

Guided by China's "Dual Carbon" and "Belt and Road" strategies, the collaborative efforts outlined in the agreement aim to establish a green industry demonstration base, support the construction of a green financial system, form a new energy industry fund, promote and replicate new energy industry development models, and cooperate to drive the internationalization and globalization of China's new energy industry, said Farizon Auto.
Built upon their respective strengths, the parties involved will collaborate on the planning, investment, and construction of projects across the entire industry chain. These projects include photovoltaic power generation, wind power generation, energy storage, integrated green hydrogen and ammonia production, agricultural and pastoral light complementarity, production and application of new energy vehicles and components, and the construction of new energy charging stations and refueling stations, collectively aimed at creating a green industry demonstration base.
Leveraging Geely's nearly two-decade exploration in the methanol field, Farizon Auto's methanol-hydrogen power route has gone into comprehensive industrial operation.
Farizon Auto's Chairman, Zhou Jianqun, emphasized that the promotion of methanol energy not only effectively addresses economic challenges in the logistics industry and reduces carbon emissions but also propels energy structural transformation, ensuring national energy security. With China currently being the world's largest producer and consumer of methanol, coupled with the leading "wind and solar" industry chain in China’s northwest region and logistics scenarios primarily powered by coal mine energy resources, the adoption of green methanol technology positions Farizon's methanol-hydrogen heavy-duty trucks as a crucial component in achieving the region's green transportation upgrade, realizing modern and high-quality development of long-haul logistics, and forming a vital piece of the diversified green methanol transportation ecosystem.
