Lamborghini Huracan Zhong launches at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China
The Lamborghini Huracan Zhong has been launched on the Guangzhou Auto Show. The Zhong is a limited edition Huracan to celebrate ten years of Lamborghini in China. Zhong is short for ‘Zhongguo’, the Chinese name for China. Only fifty examples will be made, in red or yellow or black. It also is the weirdest China-special we have ever seen.
And that is because the car is just a standard Huracan. There is nothing special about it. The exterior colors are available on any other Huracan, and the same goes for the interior. You can have the transparent engine cover or the louvres, and the tires are of standard size. Lamborghini says the pipes and the alloys are extra shiny, but this too is available on any other Huracan. Worst thing is; there are no special edition badges. Not anywhere. Inside or out. So how can you possible proof to the girlfriend that you have the Zhong, and not just another standard ‘Can? You can’t.
But you can point at your wallet, full with extra money. Because the Huracan Zhong limited edition is… CHEAPER than the standard Huracan. We really have never seen this before.
Normally, the Huracan costs 4.29 million yuan or 680.000 USD. The Zhong however goes away for only 3.5 million yuan or 550.000 dollar. A cheap special edition, now that is special indeed.
But isn’t Lamborghini so admitting they normally charge far too much? Or that they can’t move enough non-special examples? Or both? Sure wuzzy. Special editions should be extremely rare and extremely expensive, and this Zhong is neither.
Engine is unchanged as well: a 5.2 liter V10 with 610hp and 560nm. Top speed is 325km/h, 0-100 is gone in 3.2 seconds and 0-200 is done in 9.9 seconds.
Pipes are said to be special. They are not. No badges.
Transparent engine cover. Want louvres? Get louvres.
A limited not special edition.
