Shanghai (ZXZC)- On the first day of the year 2024, BYD Company Limited ("BYD") announced that it successfully surpassed the 3-million-unit annual sales target it set for the year of 2023, with the final whole-year sales reaching 3,024,417 units, which surged 61.86% from the previous year.

For the month of December 2023, BYD sold 341,043 vehicles, representing a 45% robust year-on-year leap.

Of the vehicles BYD sold last month, passenger vehicles (PVs) accounted for a sales volume of 340,178 units, a year-on-year surge of 45%. In the PV sector, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) unit saw its Dec. sales soar 70.41% from a year earlier to 190,754 units, while the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) recorded a sales volume of 149,424 units, reflecting a jump of 21.82% compared to the year-ago period.

Besides, BYD's commercial vehicle (CV) sales stood at 865 units last month, versus the 599 units of sales logged in the prior-year period.

As for the contributions of specific product series or sub-brands, the Dynasty and Ocean series sold a total of 321,570 vehicles in December, a year-over-year spike of 40.7%. In the same period, DENZA achieved a 98.8% year-on-year hike by selling 11,929 vehicles. Meanwhile, the premium brand Yangwang and the professional personalized brand Fang Cheng Bao sold 1,593 (+290.4% MoM) and 5,086 vehicles (+712.5% MoM), respectively.

Notably, regarding month-on-month change, BYD's monthly sales show a continuous climbing trajectory throughout the year of 2023.

In addition, the PVs BYD sold in December also contained 36,095 units exported to overseas markets, displaying an impressive soar of 218.9% over a year earlier.
