Shanghai (ZXZC)- Xpeng Motors said on September 26 the first flagship supercharger station jointly built with TELD, a Chinese leading charging pile operator, has been formally put into operation, a groundbreaking cooperation between Chinese EV startups and charging network operators.

Located in Shibei District of Qingdao, the significant supercharger station is surrounded by large residential quarters, shopping malls and office buildings and is equipped with 20 parking lots for to-be-charged vehicles, said the startup.

The superchargers are designed in technical standards set by Xpeng Motor and feature the startup's exclusive exterior. Following the newly-launched station, both parties are going to build more flagship and authorized charging stations, which will be fitted with special charging-used parking lots and are available for instant charging functions.

To offer users convenient and safe charging services, Xpeng Motor works on weaving its own charging network. The startup said the charging and payment data between Xpeng and TELD have been connected countrywide—its app has so far got access to the latter's 50,000 charging piles in a total of 183 cities in China, allowing consumers to search TELD's charging facilities using Xpeng's App, charge vehicles and do the payment by a simple code scanning.

To ensure the charging safety, the startup utilizes a technology that is able to monitor and analyze in real time the data generated during the charging process. Any abnormal data that may affect safety will be recorded, and the system will accordingly make a decision whether to trigger the active protection mechanism.

When the report was prepared, the EV manufacture has set up 76 supercharger stations in 18 cities. The cooperation with TELD and increasingly more authorized stations make it firmly pursue the 2019 goal of completing 200 supercharger stations in 30 cities, said Xpeng Motors.
