Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese battery giant CATL has forged a long-term strategic partnership with Bosch, one of world's leading auto parts suppliers to offer its battery cells to the latter's 48-volt power battery system, two companies announced on September 5.

Powered by CATL's battery cells, Bosch's 48-volt battery system will provide traditional fuel-burning vehicles with an electrified solution with higher efficiency, lower cost and more flexibility, so as to achieve the global goal of reducing emission and energy consumption, said CATL.

Under the agreement, CATL will design, develop and manufacture high-performance battery cells in accordance with Bosch requirements. These cells will be used in the 48-volt battery developed by Bosch. By forming this alliance, CATL will secure its long-term sourcing of the battery cells for the German auto supplier, according to Bosch.

Apart from the significant agreement signed with the auto parts titan, CATL goes viral recently for its collaboration with several globally renowned automakers like Toyota and Audi, Porsche.

Porsche is reportedly in discussions to procure electric-car batteries from CATL, as global automakers widen their supplier networks to secure the key components for future vehicles, Bloomberg reported on September 5.

Besides, Audi's China-made e-tron BEV, which is scheduled to hit the Chinese market this month, will carry the battery cell offered by CATL rather than LG, a local media outlet said earlier this month.

Last month, the Ningde-based battery manufacturer announced its partnership with the Japanese auto behemoth Toyota for the stable supply and further development of NEV batteries.
