Shanghai (ZXZC)- On December 1, the strategic cooperation signing ceremony between Geely's Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group ("Farizon Auto") and Sinotrans Limited, one of the largest logistics companies in China, took place in Hangzhou, heralding a collaboration to pioneer a new transportation model centered around methanol hydrogen ecology, according to Farizon Auto's press release.

Through the cooperation, they aim to integrate multimodal transport, spanning road, water, and rail, advancing the implementation of China's "dual-carbon" strategy and sustainable development.

Farizon Auto highlights methanol as the liquid "hydrogen" and liquid "electricity," extensively employed across industries such as industrial, maritime, and automotive. Despite their limited numbers, commercial vehicles, vital for economic and societal functions, consume 51% of diesel fuel and contribute 56% of total automotive carbon emissions, as well as 80% of all automotive PM (particulate matter) pollutants. If half of the nation's freight trucks shift to methanol from diesel, it could annually reduce petroleum imports by 125 million tonnes and cut carbon emissions by 215 million tonnes, the automaker said.

Through this collaboration, Farizon Auto and Sinotrans will leverage their respective technological and resource advantages to deeply cooperate across the entire methanol energy industry chain. This includes methanol energy production, storage, refueling, and widespread application in large-scale logistics. As China's new energy vehicles accelerate their global presence, both parties will explore efficient transportation along the entire supply chain, covering complete vehicles and components. In terms of digital collaboration, they plan to integrate their respective network freight platforms, facilitating seamless information and logistics flow across road, water, and rail.

Being China's first commercial vehicle group focusing on the new energy vehicle sector, Farizon Auto is strategically positioned around the core technologies of "electricity + methanol hydrogen," paving the way for a new era of green and intelligent commercial vehicles. Leveraging Geely's nearly 20 years of technical expertise in the methanol field, Farizon Auto is currently the only domestic enterprise in China offering methanol-powered heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, mini trucks, and buses.
