This is the Ford Everest SUV for China
This is the final production version of the brand new Ford Everest SUV for China. The Ford Everest debuted in November last year on the Guangzhou Auto Show. The SUV big seems ready to roll but it will take all the way until October before it hits the Chinese car market, which is much later than previously announced. Price will range from around 300.000 to 450.000 yuan ($48.310 – 72.460).
The Everest is manufactured in China by the Jiangling-Ford joint venture, which currently makes the Ford Transit and Ford Transit Classic, and will add the Ford Explorer and the Ford Transit Connect to the line-up in the near future. The Everest is the third made-in-China Ford SUV after the smaller Kuga and Ecosport, which are both manufactured by Changan-Ford, Ford’s other Chinese joint venture.
The Ford Everest will be available with three engines: a 2.0 turbocharged Ecoboost four-cylinder petrol with 238hp and 360nm, a 2.2 turbocharged Duratorq four-cylinder diesel engine with 150hp and 385nm, and a 3.2 turbocharged Duratorq diesel engine with 200hp and 470nm. Transmissions are a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, sending power to all-four wheels.
The Everest stands on the same platform as the Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Lots of gray and lots of beige. Large truck-like steering wheel. Gear lever located far to the right of the center tunnel.
Single center dial flanked by LCD.
Touch screen LCD in the center console.
The Everest is a seven seat SUV with a 2+3+2 configuration. Lots of space on the second row.
Fat chrome strip between the taillights…
… and even more chrome in the super shiny grille.
The 3.2 liter turbo diesel.
A nice ass, but you can’t have it until October.
