Great Wall’s P-series passenger pickup to roll off production line soon
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Great Wall Motors (GWM)'s new P Series passenger pickup will roll off the production line at the plant in Yongchuan, Chongqing on August 30, the automaker said via its WeChat account, adding that the Yongchuan plant will be completed in the meantime.
The automaker officially launched the new P Series Pickup on August 18 and kicked off the presale of the passenger pickup at the same time. The birth of the new pickup series shows that Great Wall Pickup is speeding up the globalization process, opening the era of passenger pick and aiming the height of the world's top three pickup brands, said GWM.
The P-series pickups were first seen at the Auto Shanghai 2019. Aside from the aforementioned passenger pickup, there were another two models—an off-road pickup, and a commercial pickup—showing up at the same time.
Based on the new P71 platform of GWM, the new P Series Pickup may derive more than one hundred variants with different size, power and driving form.
The overall design of the P-series passenger pickup is full of masculinity. The brand new logo of the Chinese characters "Great Wall Pao" evolves from the letter "P", which embodies three implications—"Powe", "Peak" and "Perfect".
It measures 5,410mm long, 1,934mm wide and 1,886mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 3230mm, a comparatively large model in Chinese pickup market. Besides, the freight container's dimension are 1,520mm*1,520mm*538mm.
The passenger pickup is equipped with 8AT+ 2 liter turbo engine, TOD intelligent four-wheel drive, high-strength armored body, the latest generation of Bosch version 9.3 ESP, 360 View, Rear View Camera, Lane Departure Warning, intelligent forward view, all-round 12 radars, etc., according to GWM.
As GWM's fifth CKD (complete knock down kit) factory worldwide, the Yongchuan plant will serve for the company's globalization strategy along with the Baoding, Xushui, Tianjin and Russia's Tula facilities in the future.
