Shanghai (ZXZC)- On November 24, Changan Automobile saw the first standard cell under the "Golden Shield" ("Jin Zhong Zhao" in Chinese Pinyin) brand roll off the production line at the factory of CATL-Changan EV Battery Co., Ltd. ("CCEC"), marking a swift progression following the automaker's unveiling of its new battery plan and the Golden Shield battery brand at the Auto Guangzhou 2023.

CCEC, a joint venture between CATL, Changan Automobile, and Deepal, is located in Yibin City, Sichuan Province. With a total investment of 6 billion yuan and spanning over 1000 mu (around 666,700 square meters), the company houses nearly 2000 staff members and features a designed annual output value of 15 billion yuan. It stands as a technological manufacturing company integrating R&D in emerging energy technologies and new material technologies, as well as manufacturing and sales.

Changan Automobile said, at CCEC's factory, the synergy of cutting-edge technologies such as "Fast Ion Ring Graphite," "Superconducting Electrolyte," and "Multi-grade Electrode" along with cell temperature control technology, empowers the cells with attributes like high quality, ultra-fast charging, long cycle life, and high safety.

According to the automaker, the quality control measures at the factory include 6800+ quality control points and tracking of over 10,000 data items, ensuring reliability and consistency throughout the entire lifecycle. The failure rate of individual cells reaches the DPPB (one billionth) level.

Regarding battery's service life, the cells produced at the factory boast a lifespan of over 2000 cycles, meeting the demand for an extended lifespan of 10 years or 300,000 kilometers for complete vehicles.

Furthermore, each cell produced by CCEC is equipped with a unique QR code, documenting production date, manufacturing environment, performance parameters, and more. This robust traceability system allows for swift retrieval of relevant information in case of any anomalies.

Currently, both Changan Qiyuan and Deepal brands have integrated Changan's Golden Shield batteries into their vehicles. Looking forward, the first 87Ah standard cell produced by CCEC is set to be mass-produced and integrated into various models under Changan's automotive lineup.
