The BAO 5 represents the inaugural vehicle on BYD's all-new PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) platform, DMO, and is meticulously positioned as a rugged SUV. Boasting an impressive range of features, the BAO 5's top-spec trim comes equipped with the DiSus-P intelligent vehicle body control system, harnessing BYD's latest hybrid technology platform (DMO), and integrating the CTC (cell-to-chassis) technology, resulting in a combined driving range exceeding 1,200 kilometers.

Under the hood, the entire BAO 5 lineup is powered by a high-performance 1.5-liter longitudinal engine paired with dual electric motors, forming the EHS hybrid system. It features a non-load-bearing body structure and employs a double-wishbone independent suspension at both the front and rear.

The Explorer edition stands out with an impressive approach angle of 35°, a departure angle of 32°, and a minimum ground clearance of 220mm. It is also equipped with 16 driving modes, rear electronic differential lock, energy interlock, low-speed four-wheel drive (4L), and an agile "Leopard-style" U-turn feature, enhancing off-road capabilities.

In terms of dimensions, the BAO 5 measures 4,890mm in length, 1,970mm in width, 1,920mm in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 2,800mm.

Speaking of off-road performance, BYD states that DMO-based models, including the BAO 5, can conquer desert inclines with a remarkable 150-meter hill-climbing capability. When navigating frequent ups and downs during cross-country journeys, this vehicle, leveraging its electric advantage, is said to operate without depleting the battery and can even charge it. Under diverse operating conditions, the BAO 5 showcases a 35% reduction in fuel consumption.
