GAC Group records 6.89% year-on-year drop in July sales
Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group reported a July auto sales volume of 158,052 units with a year-on-year decrease of 6.89%. Meanwhile, its vehicle outputs during the same period slid 14.98% to 166,392 units.
For the month of July, the company's PV sales dropped 6.31% from the prior-year to 157,904 units. Of that, sales of MPV and SUV sectors fell 8.29% and 23.48% respectively to 6,804 units and 57,823 units, while car sales climbed 9.03% over a year ago to 93,277 units.
July sales of CVs sharply declined to 148 units this year from 1,217 units for the year-ago period.
The Guangzhou-based auto group also reported that it has sold 1,157,612 vehicles through July, a slight drop of 2.44% compared with the corresponding period in 2018. Meanwhile, its year-to-date outputs dip 10.36% to 1,114,549 units.
Both two major Sino-Japanese joint ventures—GAC Honda and GAC Toyota—achieved double-digit growth in year-to-date sales.

In July, GAC Honda saw its auto sales shrink 8.6% to 51,871 units. Its flagship model—the tenth-generation Accord—got a July sales volume of 18,392 units with a remarkable increase of 38.2% thanks to the elegant exterior and outstanding driving experience. Year-to-date sales of the mid-sized sedan surged 54.3% from the previous year to 130,360 units.

GAC Toyota still maintained a rising momentum in July sales. As to specific models, sales of the Levin series (including HEVs and PHEVs) and the Camry series reached 22,811 units (+30%) and 16,213 units (+5%) respectively.

Nevertheless, GAC Motor, the auto group's self-owned PV manufacturer was hit by a 35.06% decrease over the year earlier.

GAC Group claimed that July sales of its NEV business arm GAC NE zoomed up 153% year on year to 3,406 units, the first time ever exceeding 3,000 units on a monthly basis.
For the first seven months, GAC NE sold a total of 14,336 vehicles with an impressive surge of 87%.
For the entire GAC Group, Jan.-Jul. sales of new energy PVs skyrocketed 141% year on year to 22,667 units.
