BYD sees monthly sales surpass 300,000 units for first time
Shanghai (ZXZC)- BYD Company Limited, the prominent Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, announced on Wednesday that its monthly sales reached 301,833 units in October 2023, for the first time exceeding the 300,000-unit mark.
As for growth rate, BYD saw its Oct. 2023 sales jump 38.57% from the previous year and rise 5% from the previous month.
Of the vehicles it sold last month, 301,095 units were contributed by passenger vehicles (PVs). In the PV sector, there were 165,505 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sold in the month, representing a year-on-year surge of 60.44%. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) segment recorded a monthly sales volume of 135,590 units, which jumped 18.56% from a year earlier.
Besides, BYD sold 738 new energy commercial vehicles (CVs) in October, versus the 298 units of sales recorded in the year-ago period.

As for the performance of each product segments, BYD said the combined sales of its Dynasty and Ocean series amounted to 289,595 units last month, jumping 33.4% year over year. In addition, DENZA, the premium brand majority-backed by BYD, logged a sales volume of 11,500 units in the same month.
Moreover, BYD also announced a monthly PV export volume of 30,521 units in October, which skyrocketed 220.3% from a year earlier.
For the first ten months of this year, BYD sold a total of 2,381,471 vehicles, indicating a 69.75% hike over the previous year and completing 79.38% of the annual sales target it set for the year of 2023.
