CATL puts first phase of Guizhou power, energy storage battery base into operation
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On October 27, CATL held a ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of its power and energy storage battery manufacturing base in Guian New Area, Guizhou province, according to the battery maker's press release.
Spanning a total land area of approximately 1,435 mu (956,700 square meters), CATL's Guizhou base will focus on producing power and energy storage batteries with an annual production capacity of 60GWh. This project is divided into two phases, with the first phase occupying around 885 mu (590,000 square meters) and involving a total investment of roughly 7 billion yuan. The first phase is designed to build the production lines capable of manufacturing 30GWh batteries per year and relevant supporting infrastructures.

The first phase of the base has already been put into operation. It boasts cutting-edge design standards, characterized by "lighthouse + zero-carbon factory." This high-standard facility employs advanced, high-speed, highly automated, and flexible production lines with an automation rate of 95%, said CATL. From raw materials input to the final battery pack output, it can achieve a remarkable pace of outputting one cell every second and one battery pack every 2.5 minutes.
Once the first phase reaches full-scale production, it will progressively foster an industrial ecosystem, contributing to the development of the Gui'an New Area as a hub for the production of new energy vehicles, batteries, and raw materials.
Following the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, CATL signed strategic cooperation agreements with Guizhou Expressway Investment Group and Guizhou Changjiang EV. These agreements encompass collaboration in the fields of power battery technology, battery swapping network for heavy-duty trucks, and new energy logistics vehicles.
