XCMG rolls off first power battery pack using BYD’s cells
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On October 17, Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group ("XCMG"), a Chinese multinational state-owned heavy machinery manufacturing company, saw its first-ever power battery pack roll off the production line managed by XCMG's wholly-owned subsidiary, XCMG New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd. ("XCMG Power").

This milestone marks XCMG's momentous entry into the field of new energy power batteries, demonstrating its capabilities in product development, mass production, and reliable delivery, thus laying a solid foundation for strengthening and expanding its new energy vehicle-related business.
This project, with an approximate total investment of 1 billion yuan, covers an area of 200 mu (around 133,300 square meters) and is designed to create several leading industry-standard power battery pack assembly lines. In just four months since the start of factory construction on May 28 this year, XCMG Power has accomplished contract signing, factory delivery, production line connectivity, and product release.
The X01 power battery released on this occasion is a result of a collaborative effort between XCMG and BYD. It incorporates BYD's Blade Battery cells, known for their low expansion, slow heat diffusion rate features, and high spatial utilization efficiency, excelling in safety and stability.
This battery innovatively adopts a dual-layer stacking design for battery cells, in contrast to the single-layer stacking commonly used in the industry, so that the space utilization of battery packs can be further enhanced. Combined with a high-strength PACK design and a robust thermal management system, it can be widely applied in various scenarios, including heavy-duty trucks, light trucks, and cranes, effectively catering to the diverse operating requirements of commercial vehicles and construction machinery.
XCMG Power's state-of-the-art power battery PACK production line embodies lean, intelligent, digital, flexible, and environmentally-friendly manufacturing practices, ensuring the high-quality production and delivery of its products, said XCMG.
The first-phase production capacity of XCMG Power's factory is 6 GWh, and the production line is compatible with over a dozen Blade Battery cells, according to XCMG. The entire production process is highly automated and informationized, with the involvement of robots, AGVs, smart logistics systems, and MES (manufacturing execution system). The integration of hardware and software ensures real-time visibility throughout the entire process, ensuring consistent product quality. Moreover, the production line can be adjusted at any time, allowing for flexible product line configurations to meet the needs of various commercial vehicles and construction machinery, including customized deliveries in small batch.
