Startup NIO delivers 3,553 new cars in Q2 of 2019
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese EV startup NIO delivered a total of 3,553 new cars during the second quarter, 2019, surpassing the previously anticipated number of 2,800 units to 3,200 units, the company said on July 10.
For the month of June, NIO handed over 1,340 new cars to consumers, compared with 1,089 units and 1,124 units delivered in May and April respectively.
NIO has so far handed over a total of 413 ES6 SUVs, the startup's second mass-produced model, since it kicked off the delivery on June 18.
The cumulative deliveries of the ES8 and the ES6 aggregated 18,890 units by the end of June after the first batch of consumers received the ES8 SUVs.
NIO announced on June 27 a voluntary recall of 4,803 ES8s for battery safety concerns after the ES8 battery safety incidents occurred in Shanghai and other locations in this country. This is also the first recall plan in China offered by EV startup, a very significant case for the whole industry to more highlights the EV safety not just the speed of mass production.
Moreover, the EV maker is expanding the deployment of charging infrastructures. NIO said via its Sina Weibo account on July 10 that its first supercharging station has been put into trial operation in Suzhou.
