The Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection debuts in Beijing, two days before the start of the Beijing Auto Show. The Pinnacle Travel Collection is a China-only special edition celebrating “the Chinese love of travel and the success of the Bespoke programme in China”. It has a chessboard in the back. Interestingly, it is a western board, where Rolls-Royce could have gone for Chinese Chess or Go.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection comes in two-tone colour scheme. Buyers can choose between Madeira Red – Silver Sand, Infinity Black – Silver Haze, or Melanite – Palladium. The car on the photos is a Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection Madeira Red – Silver Sand.

The interior is dressed up with thick red leather, loads of walnut wood, “Morello Red lambs wool floor mats”, and kinda wiffy white pillows. Rolls-Royce says the interior is made to look like a “streamlined train travelling at speed”.

There is another well-written line in the press release. Let me quote: “The pièce de la resistance, however, is the most complex and intricate marquetry ever seen inside a Rolls-Royce.” They are talking about the woodwork in the doors and on the glove box, showing a train.

No matter the wording, the interior is indeed a work of art and sublime craftsmanship. The Rolls-Royce Phantom Pinnacle Travel Collection can be ordered from today. As far as we can figure out the Pinnacle Travel Collection is an unlimited special edition, so if you bring the cash they will make it. No word on price but the base car goes for 6.88 million yuan or 1.1 million USD, so the Pinnacle will likely get close to 10 million.
