Positioned as an ultra-hybrid rugged SUV, the BAO 5 is crafted on BYD's DMO super hybrid off-road platform. Its sculpted body design resonates with its rugged off-road identity, while the electric current matrix headlights and electrode loop taillight design further underscore its hybrid positioning.

In terms of power, the BAO 5 benchmarks against models like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It incorporates BYD's DiSus intelligent vehicle body control system. This includes a dual-motor and three differential locks, with the additional feature of a longitudinally mounted engine. Relying on the DMO platform, the model's total power can exceed 500kW, with a peak torque of 760N·m, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.

In terms of range, the BAO 5 can achieve a CLTC-rated range of 125 km on battery power alone. It can charge from 30% to 80% of its battery capacity in just 16 minutes. With a full tank of fuel and a fully charged battery, the vehicle's comprehensive range can exceed 1,200 km. Additionally, the model supports 20 kW stationary charging, 6kW AC vehicle-to-vehicle charging, and 6kW V2L (vehicle-to-load) discharge.
