The recent move also signals the commencement of the third phase of the collaborative project between the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and the Clean Parks, NIO's ecosystem co-construction initiative.

The journey began on April 22, 2022, as NIO and WWF formally forged their strategic partnership on the Clean Parks program. Prior to this, their collaborative efforts had already contributed to the ecosystem development of the Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park and the Giant Panda National Park.

In addition to supporting the use of intelligent electric vehicles for ecosystem patrolling in national parks, Clean Parks has taken a substantial step this year. Coordinated by the Qinghai Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau and WWF, NIO, Astronergy, and the One Planet Foundation have come together on the eve of the second National Park Forum to establish the V2G (Vehicle to Grid) photovoltaic replenishment facility within the Qilian Mountains National Park. This strategic move aims to propel the national park's establishment of a clean and low-carbon energy self-sustaining system, marking the inaugural application of NIO's V2G self-sustaining energy technology.

The aforesaid V2G self-sustaining energy system is an assemblage of photovoltaic power stations, V2G bidirectional charging stations, and all-electric vehicles.

According to NIO, the V2G technology embodies bidirectional inverter charging techniques. This application enables electric vehicles to serve as distributed mobile energy storage units, facilitating energy absorption during low demand periods and energy discharge during peak consumption times. Beyond the technological prowess, V2G presents a paradigmatic union of transportation and energy sectors, epitomizing the harmonious coexistence of technology and the environment.

Exemplifying localized deployment and utilization of the source-grid-storage-load framework, V2G advances the local production and consumption of green energy, consequently reducing external environmental impacts. Furthermore, the V2G charging facilities not only offer convenient electric vehicle charging service, but also serve as mobile energy hubs for the protected areas. By virtue of the V2G feature, surplus energy stored in the vehicles can be transferred back to the grid for nighttime or emergency use.

Currently, the V2G energy self-sustaining station has been established within the Qilian Mountains National Park's Long-Term National Research Base.
