Shanghai (ZXZC)- BYD saw the all-electric SUV “S2” hit the market on June 17. Positioned below the models under BYD's Dynasty Series, the BYD S2 is be offered in four variants with prices ranging between RMB89,800 and RMB109,800 after subsidy.

Adopting BYD's iconic “Dragon Face” design language, the S2 features a large-sized dot-matrix grille as well. On the top of grille is a U-shaped chrome trim that resembles an upward-sloping dragon beard. The rear end looks similar to the Yuan EV, while is devoid of a spare tire on the tailgate.

Besides, the logo above the front grille features the “BYD” lettering with a blue background rather than the Chinese character for the BYD Dynasty Series. In the future, the new NEV model is to be sold via the automaker's fresh “e” sales channel.

The BYD e2 measures 4,100mm long, 1,785mm wide and 1,680mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,535mm. It offer tires in the size of 205/60 R16.

The cockpit features a concise wraparound design with a 10.1-inch liquid crystal display at the center console. What's more, the BYD S2 will be fitted with the panoramic sunroof, luggage rack and blackened 8-spoke rims, and offer rear-view mirrors in different colors based on variants. The relatively high waistlines are able to elevate the overall visual center of gravity.

Powering the vehicle will be a 70kW/180N·m permanent magnet motor paired with a 40.62kWh ternary-lithium battery pack. Using such powertrain, the vehicle features a combined NEDC-rated range of 305km and can run at a top speed of 101km/h. The vehicle is able to use fast charging mode to complete a charge within only 1.1 hours.
