Spy Shots: 1.4 TSI for the Audi Q3 in China
Spy shots of the new China-only Audi Q3 powered by a 1.4 TSI engine. The engine will deliver 150hp and will be mated to a seven-speed DCT. Designation will be ‘Q3 30 TFSI’. The Audi Q3 30 TFSI will debut on the Beijing Auto Show in April and will be launched on the China car market around the same time.
The Audi Q3 is manufactured in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. Price starts at 285.000 yuan and ends at 428.800 yuan. Lone engine is a 2.0 TFSI int two different tunes; with 170hp (Q3 35 TFSI) or with 200hp (Q3 40 TFSI). Interestingly, in October last year we saw spy shots of an Audi Q3 30 TFSI which was allegedly powered by a 160hp 1.8 turbo. Audi apparently decided to ditch the 1.8 and go for the more economical 1.4 TSI.
Many Chinese car buyers consider the Audi Q3 too expensive for its size. The new 1.4 TSI engine will bring price down to about 230.000 yuan, which will make the Q3 a lot more attractive.
