NIO so far deploys over 1,600 battery swap stations across China

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On July 30, NIO launched 12 new battery swap stations, marking a significant milestone as the nationwide total of such stations surpassed 1,600, reaching a remarkable count of 1,609, according to the company's WeChat account.

Notably, the 1,600th station, which was established in Urumqi, Xinjiang, is at NIO's Power Journeys Silk Road that was officially put into operation on July 19. With this new addition, self-driving enthusiasts planning trips to Xinjiang can now enjoy enhanced convenience.

The extensive network of 1,609 battery swap stations now covers all provincial administrative regions and 225 prefecture-level cities throughout the Chinese mainland. As of today, about 73% NIO users have lived in the “Swap Station District Houses”, which NIO refers to residence within a 3 km radius from a battery swap station.

According to NIO, NIO users have so far completed over 25 million battery swaps, with an average of 55,000 swaps per day, indicating there is one vehicle being fully charged and ready to go every 1.6 seconds.

NIO's well-planned swap station network not only offers reliable charging solutions but also supports battery upgrades. With over 100,000 battery upgrade services already provided, users can broaden their travel horizons and embark on explorations without hesitation, said NIO. Furthermore, NIO's flexible daily rental service for batteries is now available nationwide, allowing users to pay for battery usage as needed, providing them with greater control over their journeys.

Of the 1,609 power swap stations NIO has so far deployed in China, 440 of which are located along expressways. In addition, NIO has also deployed 2,867 charging stations with 16,954 charging piles across the country, and has had access to over 760,000 third-party charging points.
