A very dusty first generation Ford Crown Victoria, seen on the premises of the Beijing Classic Car Museum in Huairou District to the far north of the capital. The mighty Crown Victoria was manufactured from 1983 until 1991 with a facelift in 1988, this is a facelifted car. The Ford Crown Victoria was never officially exported to China. This particular example once belonged to an American company and was acquired by the museum in the 1990’s.

The museum regularly rents it out to the nearby movie studios. So whenever you see an old Ford sedan in a Chinese movie; this must be the car! The museum owns a large movie-fleet, including the mini-tanks on the left and the 1950’s trucks on the right. The Crown Victoria was in working order, they started it up later on and the engine burbled like a baby.

Note beautifully ‘stacked’ rear lights.  The Crown Victoria was based on the famous Ford Panther-platform. Power came from big ‘n bad old-school American V8 engines:  a 4.9 liter 302 Windsor V8 with 220hp and 407nm or a 5.8 liter 351 Windsor V8 with a full 290 horses. Fast Ford! Fast movie car in China…
