Shanghai (ZXZC)- On July 3, the "Hydrogen-powered Vehicle Travel • Foshan Nanhai Fuel Cell Passenger Vehicle Demonstration and Promotion Project Launch Ceremony" was held in Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. Some of the vehicles deployed in this project are MPVs from SAIC Maxus, adopting the fuel cell systems supplied by Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. (“SHPT”).

The launch of SAIC Maxus fuel cell MPVs in the new project signifies the extension of hydrogen energy demonstration applications from commercial vehicles to passenger vehicles, accelerating the exploration of an effective path for the commercialization of hydrogen energy in the transportation sector.

In addition to the fuel cell system from SHPT, the aforementioned fuel cell vehicles also utilize JiPing New Energy’s catalyst. With a range of 605 kilometers and refueling time of only 3-5 minutes, the model has already been used in the pilot operation of urban ride-hailing services in Shanghai since 2022. The vehicle's overall performance and core components have been fully validated, meeting the green travel demands for government, leasing, and shared mobility scenarios, said SHPT.

Established in 2018, SHPT, a key company cultivated by SAIC Motor, specializes in the development and manufacturing of fuel cell stacks and systems. It adheres to a strategy of simultaneous application in commercial and passenger vehicles. Its products are widely used in various vehicle types, including passenger vehicles, city buses, group buses, light-duty trucks, and medium- to heavy-duty trucks. The company has conducted commercial promotion activities in 21 cities across 15 provinces, including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi.
