GM China sales up 12% in October

Another good month for General Motors in China. Total sales in October climbed to 282.446 units, up 12% compared to 2012. All brands saw a healthy rise. Buick is the best selling brand with 69.746 cars leaving the showroom, up 15.3% compared with last year.

Sales of the Chevrolet brand were up 9.3% to 63.321 cars, with the Chevrolet Cruze taking the lead with 26.273 units sold. Cadillac is doing well too, with sales going up 68.7% to 4202 units. Best seller was the steady Cadillac XTS with 2292 cars. Sales of Wuling vehicles, which account for almost half of GM’s China sales, were up 14 percent to 135.687 units.

General Motors is running two large joint ventures in China; Shanghai-GM in which it has a 50% stake, and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automotive in which it has a 33.33% stake.
