Hanteng Auto, Baidu team up on Level 3 autonomous driving system
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Hanteng Auto, a privately owned Chinese automobile manufacturer, signed an agreement at the Auto Shanghai 2019 with the Internet giant Baidu to step up their cooperation in Level 3 autonomous driving area.
The latest cooperation involves automated parking and Level 3 expressway autonomous driving technologies, etc. At a speed of over 60km/h, car-borne laser radars scan the map data, helping the system pinpoint locations. After receiving drivers' confirmation, the autonomous driving system can enable a vehicle to automatically execute car-following, cruise, lane-changing and overtaking.
Besides, both parties are proactively promoting the R&D of autonomous vehicle models, which will be mass produced in 2021. Hanteng Auto will work together with Baidu's Apollo platform to co-build autonomous driving, intelligent connectivity and smart traffic ecosystem.
Before the signing ceremony, the automaker officially released the presale price of the Hanteng V7, which carries the ADAS available for Level 2 intelligent driving features, covering such functions as LDW (lane departure warning), AEB (autonomous emergency braking), SLIF (speed limit information function), full-speed ACC (adaptive cruise control) and HBA (high beam assist).
Last year, Hanteng Auto collaborated with Baidu on HD (high-definition) map and self-positioning technologies. In early 2019, both companies started to jointly research and develop the Baidu Map Auto applicable to Hanteng Auto's cars, which is expected to enter into market in March next year.
