Patent image of Geely’s all-new SUV code-named VF12 exposed
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese automaker Geely is ready to launch an all-new SUV model code-named VF12 as part of its new product plan consisting of at least 5 all-new models for 2019, according to local media.
The VF12, positioned as a mid-sized SUV, measures 4,835mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,780mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,815mm. With a longer wheelbase than that of the Toyota Highlander, it will offer a spacious back-row passenger room. The seven-seat layout is likely to be released in the future.
The all-new SUV retains Geely family's iconic language. According to patent images released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the VF12 features a newly-designed hexagonal grille which is flanked by matrix LED headlights. The protruding lines at the bonnet and the wheel trims and black edging at car windows add masculinity for the vehicle.
Underneath the squarish rear end is a concealed exhaust pipe arrangement.
Consumers can select such niceties as luggage rack, sunroof, front fog lamps, chrome trims for outside door handles as well as rear-facing cameras based on their own preference. The new SUV is expected to go on sale in the second half of the year.
Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-litre or a 1.8-litre turbocharged engine with respective maximum output of 130kW and 135kW.
