BYD’s personalized ‘F’ brand likely to be named ‘Fang Cheng Bao’
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On June 8th, during the intense 2023 Gaokao period, BYD once again unveiled a teaser for its F brand. The intriguing "F brand Gaokao comprehensive paper" hinted at a key clue: "FCB".
In the mathematics paper launched yesterday (June 7), BYD disclosed a crucial information, "6.9", which when combined with the official Weibo account of "Fang Cheng Bao (translated as ‘Equation Leopard’or 'Formula Leopard') Auto” that went live on June 6, suggests that the F brand is most likely to be named "Fang Cheng Bao" and could be officially announced on June 9th.
In fact, as early as Nov. 16 last year, Wang Chuanfu, the Chairman and President of BYD, teased this during the launch of BYD's 3 millionth new energy vehicle: "BYD will introduce a highly professional and personalized new brand". This was the first time the F brand was hinted at publicly.
It is reported that the F brand represents BYD's key strategy of extending "from domestic to luxury, from popular to personalized", covering all segments. The brand will position itself between DENZA and Yangwang, focusing on multiple categories of unique, professional-level new energy vehicles, spanning sports cars, off-road vehicles, and more. Its first product to be launched this year is an off-road product. The future product matrix will encompass sports cars, off-roaders, coupes, etc., featuring a broad range of products and a wide coverage, contradicting rumors that it will be a single off-road brand.

The first product of the F brand, code-named "SF", is a new energy off-road SUV, and spy photos of the model have been leaked previously. The overall performance of this model will rival that of the Mercedes-Benz G.
The new vehicle is reported to have a combined range of 1,200 kilometers and a maximum output power exceeding 500 kilowatts. It is also equipped with BYD's DiSus intelligent vehicle control system, equipped with front and rear differential locks plus electric central locks, and adopts a body-on-frame structure. It is expected to be priced between 400,000 and 600,000 yuan. Given BYD's habit of launching production-ready models, the F brand models are likely to immediately go into mass production following the launch.
