Spy shots showing the upcoming Hyundai ix25 SUV testing in China. The Hyundai ix25 is a new entry-level SUV that will be made in China by the e Beijing-Hyundai joint venture, production will start in the first half of 2014. The ix25 is aimed straight at the successful Ford Ecosport.
Design of the ix25 will be inspired by the 2011 Hyundai Curb concept. The ix25 will be based on the platform of the Kia Soul, which is made in China by the Dongfeng-Yueda-Kia joint venture. The Soul is priced from 103.800 yuan to 127.800 yuan, and powered by a 125hp 1.6.
Chinese media say the ix25 will get the same 1.6 and a 1.4, both mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. If the 1.4 is indeed true, price for the ix25 could start around 95.000 yuan.
